Groovin' High

Not a bad run through for your first recording. keep in mind that these are tough chord changes to solo on.

  1. Another song that just moves too fast for my brain to comprehend. I'm usually decent at this but the whole being put on the spot to record something makes me tense and the end result is less than satisfying.

  2. I think our phrasing in the beggining isn't terrible. I'm still not as comfortable as I shoul be and for that I'm very displeased. But over all I can hear my ideas starting to come together the longer I play into my solo.
I do enjoy being put on the spot though. It's real. No second chances.

  3. That wasn't bad I think its actually coming along pretty well, we just need to get more comfortable with the changes. Again, there was sometimes where I didn't really lay into my solo as much as I could have but I think my solo and everyone else's solos were good, we just got to work on the endings since it seems like that's where everyone is getting lost

  4. The melody seems fine, as well as the background figures (this take wasn't as good with it, but it's usually fine).

I think the solos do need some work. At some points in my solo I could hear a line I liked and/or some notes that fit. I just need to play with the recording more to get the transitions down, figure out the the second ending, and connect my lines. I also want to figure out something that works over the descending part in the first ending rather than play the roots and descending with it.

  5. The backround figures were tight and Dom definately knows the melody although this recording doesnt always show that.

I still feel that although the melody is great at this speed its harder for me to solo at this tempo. I honestly wasnt hearing anything and I need to learn to cut out sometime instead of just trying to plow through the solo. I also need to get down the endings better. All in all I was really off on this recording.
