All The Things You Are

Our first attempt...

  1. I fell apart on the solo. I can solo over this section piece by piece but I always get lost when we do it all at once. I don't really have much to say except that we should have practiced this more before we tried to record it. It needs so much work. It's very half-hearted and boring.

  2. The chords in the begginig are an amazing idea, but our phrasing is HORRIBLE. It's generally un-inspired for most of the song. The tempo tends to drag on too. While we do need to expand our sound range, I think we do much better on fast pased, up beat tunes.

  3. OK, so, I agree with everything said so far except that we do better on fast paced tunes, at least for me. I actually heard a ton over this one in both background and soloing and it was easier to hear and respond to what people were playing for me. I do think that I need to lay into my ideas a little more in my solo and jump off the cliff just a little farther as I hear all my ideas, but I feel like I could express them a little more since I feel like I didnt fully commit to what I heard. But I heard a lot. Also, I think the horns need to agree on what phrasing and rhythm to play throughout the song, because it sounds like everyone's doing there own thing. And I think that Catherine could really do some cool stuff on this piece, but she doesn't seem that into it. But I agree with Dom that I think what we need most is some more practice on it

  4. I will have to practice the melody more. I wasn't exactly solid on the melody because we originally learned the melody from the original piece. I like the new phrasing Mr. Rabuse wrote out, I just have to get used to it and not accidentally play the old melody's rhythm.

I thought my solo was fine for the most part. There was one or two spots where I hit a horrible note and my solo lost its momentum. I'll have to work on it.

  5. The intro needs alot of work. The melody is there but its kinda sloppy and towards the end it just falls apart.

You could really hear the swooping on my solo at the start. It seemed confused too. I definately had ideas but I kept running into walls. As a whole it wasn't great but Idk what happened at the end where I just magically pulled it all together. And for the first time I actually heardd the ending that I played
