I think the song is kind of a mess.I know that the feel of the song is determined by the rhythm section but they don't have that control when the rest of the band isn't paying attention. Jazz is a group effort and everyone needs to contribute and help their fellow band mates. We shouldn't have to divide ourselves into sections. We need to start being a cohesive unit.
You're right Catherine. We have to play the groove a lot together. It may seem like a waste of time, but simply playing the groove together will internalize the rhythm for all.
